United Blood Services

Project Description

Located on the west side of El Paso on approximately 3 acres of land, the new 25,000 square foot facility houses a new state of the art blood processing lab, hospital services, donors drawing areas, ADCS services, administrative offices, community relations, training facilities, warehouse and related support services.

This project was a joint effort by all parties involved. Upon VeMac's acquisition of this project, we have worked closely with the owner and their architect as the project progressed from the preliminary design phase, the request of proposals from local subcontractors and suppliers, to the construction of the new facility. VeMac assisted Blood Systems, Inc., the parent company of United Blood Services in El Paso, in coordinating the cost for the permanent utility services for the project. During the development phase of this project, VeMac representatives met with the utility companies and the City of El Paso in order to help expedite the process.

During construction, VeMac prepared the construction schedule and help weekly meetings between the owner, architect, and major trade contractors to address the schedule and keep information flowing. These meetings also allowed additional matters to come to the attention of those involved like R.F.I's and owner material deliveries.
